The Color-Changing Gimlet
The key to a good vodka gimlet is the temperature: It must be ice cold. A traditional or vodka gimlet is traditionally mixed and chilled in a cocktail shaker, and a Unicorn Gimlet can also be prepared this way. Your color-changing vodka will pour into the shaker in its all-natural cobalt blue hue and strain out in a soft purple — transformed by the acidic lime juice.
History of the Gimlet
The classic gimlet, made with gin, was first described in 1928. The favored proportion of gin and lime juice has fluctuated over the decades.
During vodka’s rise to fame in the ‘90s, it became a popular substitute for gin in the gimlet cocktail. Modern variations include the french gimlet and the basil gimlet.
The Unicorn Vodka Gimlet is the most modern evolution of this classic cocktail, winning over gin and vodka fans with light botanicals and crisp, clean vodka.
